Cialis and Viagra are both PDE5 inhibitors, whereas Cialis is the brand name for Viagra. Cialis is the generic version of Viagra and is taken as an oral tablet to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Cialis is available in 2.5mg and 5mg doses.
Viagra is a brand name for the active ingredient sildenafil citrate and is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. Viagra and Cialis are similar but the active ingredient is different and may have a different side effect profile.
Cialis and Viagra are both PDE5 inhibitors and both have similar side effects such as headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, back pain, and muscle aches. In some men Cialis may cause a mild headache or it may cause visual disturbances and may be associated with a low blood pressure. Viagra and Cialis have been associated with some side effects including dizziness, low blood pressure, and nasal congestion. However, there are no serious side effects of these medications and therefore their use should only be carefully monitored.

This week, the FDA announced it was changing its warning label forTadalafil(Cialis) to warn about potentially deadly side effects.
A recent study found that men taking daily doses of tadalafil or similar drugs may be at an increased risk of developing side effects associated with tadalafil use, including erectile dysfunction (ED).
The study, published in the journalJAMA Internal Medicine, involved nearly 8,000 men who took tadalafil and were prescribed it for their ED. Researchers observed an association between tadalafil use and an increased risk of erectile dysfunction. However, it was not clear whether this was due to a placebo effect or a combination of the two effects.
Researchers from the Harvard Medical School reported that while the FDA’s warning label for tadalafil is “not specific enough,” it does not list side effects that are known to occur. They wrote that they are still reviewing the information and determining whether the label is accurate.
The FDA’s warning label for tadalafil has now been updated to include a separate section advising of potential side effects. Tadalafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
The FDA added that its warning label for the drug “does not include a list of all the possible side effects.”
In a separate article, a team at the Harvard Medical School’s division of urology warned that tadalafil side effects may be a result of an underlying medical condition. The drug should not be used to treat a medical condition unless it’s medically necessary.
In a separate report, a team at theJournal of the American Medical Associationstated that the side effects associated with tadalafil are likely related to a drug interaction with another tadalafil drug.
The drug should not be used to treat a medical condition unless it is medically necessary and should not be used as a drug in an established class of medicines known as PDE5 inhibitors. The FDA’s warning is based on a meta-analysis which found that some men taking tadalafil and some men taking sildenafil had an increased risk of ED.
The FDA does not recommend tadalafil as a first-line treatment for ED because of the potential serious side effects.
The drug was initially approved for use in women only, but since the FDA approved its use for men’s sexual problems, it has been approved for use in both men and women’s sexual health.
The FDA is now considering whether to approve the use of tadalafil in women’s sexual health because of the potential increased risk of certain side effects, such as low blood pressure, headaches, vision problems, and abnormal heart rhythm.
Tadalafil is not approved for use in men’s sexual health because the FDA does not currently recommend it.
The drug should not be used for erectile dysfunction unless the patient has been prescribed it by a doctor. If the patient has been prescribed tadalafil by a physician, the physician must determine whether the patient has had any changes to their medical history or conditions that may be associated with the use of the drug, as well as whether a patient has used a different drug or combination of drugs.
The FDA has not yet approved the use of tadalafil in men. It is still working on a new warning label for the drug that warns of possible side effects including erectile dysfunction, headaches, vision problems, and abnormal heart rhythm.
The new warning label for the drug contains a “prolonged duration of effects” in the warning section. It includes “an increased risk of cardiovascular events” and “a low incidence of cardiovascular death.”
The drug is not approved for use in women.
The FDA has not approved the use of tadalafil in women’s sexual health.

1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
